We are a global, not-for-profit self-managed partnership, founded in 1995, with bases in Beijing, Geneva, London, Sao Paulo and Washington D.C., and country representatives in Brazil, Canada, China, Jordan, Spain, Sweden and the US.

Our work in China

AccountAbility has had full-time staff in China since 2007 working with stakeholders and organisations from government, business, and civil society on projects that promote accountability for sustainable development. This work includes:

• China's Sustainable Trade Strategy
  
  Part of a multi-year project partnering with the Chinese State Council's Development Research Center (DRC) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the research of AccountAbility and the DRC gives policy recommendations to the Chinese government and businesses on how China's transnationalising enterprises can develop more sustainably, namely through enhancing competitiveness by developing strategies for engaging with international voluntary standards. The work was launched at the Boao Forum in April 2009.

•  Zhejiang Province Responsible Competitiveness Sector Study

  Partnering with the Zhejiang Economic and Trade Commission and working with the partner and funder the Sino-German CSR Project (GTZ), this 2-sector study aims to understand Responsible Competitiveness in Zhejiang Province and more broadly in China by linking business, sector and provincial-level development with markets that reward sustainable development. It will produce policy recommendations and sector roadmaps for Zhejiang's textiles and medicine sectors.

• 浙江省行业责任竞争力研究项目

  与浙江省经济贸易委员会合作，与合作和赞助方中德贸易可持续发展与企业行为规范项目（简称中德 CSR 项目）共同实施，通过将企业，行业及全省的发展与塑造对可持续发展作出回报的市场相联系，这项研究项目旨在理浙江以及中国的责任竞争力，它将为浙江的纺织和制药行业提供政策建议和行业发展道路。

•  Fortune China and AccountAbility Managerial Survey on Corporate Responsibility

• AA1000 Series of Standards China Engagement and Launch

  For many years, AccountAbility has worked with partners like Bureau Veritas, DNV, COSCO, the Sino-German CSR project (GTZ), Syntao, WTO Tribune, State Grid and many others to translate, engage in, and promote the AA1000 series and its revisions in China. We are extremely grateful for the overwhelming response and participation of important Chinese stakeholders from all areas of the private and public sectors, including SOEs, private enterprises, consultancies, assurance providers, and other professional circles.
